Boss Awards 2025

My nomination from Walsall Manor's Neonatal Unit is our senior ANNP Sue Worsey! She is always a team player, approachable, knowledgeable and my go to person for advice. You always know that if you approach her with a question or for advice, she will always give you an appropriate answer and will maintain confidentiality!

I would like to nominate Chloe Powell. BWH She was one of the most amazing NICU nurses we could have asked for.

Not only did she go above and beyond for our daughter Elodie she gave us frequent updates either by vcreate or by phone. She made us footprint pictures and ECGs pictures and made sure we had lots of good memories. She changed the most stressful time of our life and gave us a bit of normality. The way she cared for Elodie was like she was caring for her own child. She is caring, compassionate and by far an amazing nurse who you can tell loves her job. She even checked on Elodie when we got to the ward. The NICU wouldn't be the same without her.

I would like to nominate Dr Bird from Warwick SCBU She is our clinical lead for neonates and a brilliant consultant colleague. In a small DGH setting she is making sure our SCBU excels. Dr Bird is incredibly conscientious and works so hard for the babies being cared for in our department and their families. The recent feedback from our network peer review highlighted so much good practice including excellent MDT working, a well organised team, a focus on education as well as timely and effective discharges. It really show cased where her positive influence and her desire for the provision of the best service for our families is making a difference as part of the wider neonatal unit team (who I also think are brilliant but I cant nominate them all this time). Dr Bird makes sure we punch far above our weight participating in national research trials and despite many obstacles she has worked tirelessly to get our Transitional care unit up and running keeping more mothers and babies together.

Please can we take this opportunity to wholeheartedly nominate Jemini Dineshan at SCBU- Warwick Hospital for the Neonatal Hero Award in recognition of her extraordinary effort, commitment, and dedication in caring for our little one, Baby Ramasamy.

From the very first moment we saw our baby in the Special Care Unit, Jemini was there. As new parents, we knew nothing and could only look at our little one in worry and wonder. Jemini immediately reassured us, giving us confidence and patiently explaining every step of our baby’s care.Her expertise and clinical judgement gave us complete trust, while her warmth and compassion reassured us when we felt uncertain or anxious. We were particularly struck by her ownership and proactive approach in making the right decisions at the right moments, always balancing medical needs with genuine empathy for our family.

Jemini’s dedication is visible in everything she does, from the careful way she explains each procedure, to the patience with which she answers our questions, to the positive energy she brings into the neonatal unit. She has not only cared for our baby with utmost professionalism, but also given us peace of mind, joy, and the courage to believe everything would be okay.For us, Jemini embodies the very definition of a neonatal hero — someone who combines clinical excellence with humanity, compassion, and unwavering commitment. We are truly grateful to have had her by our side, and we believe she richly deserves recognition for the outstanding difference she has made in our lives.
